Organisations, Sites and User Permissions

How we have setup SiteRunner

In our system Sites (websites) belong to Organisations.

Typically our clients have one Site and it belongs to their Organisation (i.e. company name). In this case only they have access to the Site's control panel.

Some people want to allow access to their Sites to third parties, usually a web developer. To make this work we allow people to create more Organisations, assign their Sites to them and then grant third parties access to these Organisations.

We did it like this is so you have the option to let other people access your sites without giving access to your whole account.

An example of why we did this

I am a website owner and have several websites. I want to allow a Web Developer access to a Site or group of Sites I am working on.

In our system you would have those websites belong to an Organisation you have created and then grant access to that Organisation to the Web Developer.

As I write this it occurs to me this is more confusing than just allowing access Site by Site. The intention was that usually people need to grant access to all the sites they own. Hmmm, we'll see what people need ~ GGJ
